Empowering Young Entrepreneurs

Empowering Young Entrepreneurs in South Sudan: BIAB and Our Future Plans Last week, from July 25th to 26th, we hosted the Build In A Box program in South Sudan in collaboration with the African Leadership Academy (ALA). This initiative extends ALA's entrepreneurial leadership impact across the continent by bringing together current ALA students and alumni to teach high school students and young people the fundamentals of entrepreneurship to solve local problems. This year, the Edupower Youth Foundation made significant strides in making the program more inclusive and engaging. We welcomed 51 participants from various high schools in Juba and young leaders from Juba and Bor town for a two-day entrepreneurship program. Despite the challenges of distance and busy school schedules, the participants fully engaged in the program and came up with innovative ideas to address local issues. We had three winning teams, and the top teams will be mentored by the Edupower Youth Foundation team over the holiday to refine and implement their ideas. We invited nine schools in Juba to participate in the program: Greenbelt Academy-Juba , Brilliant Academy-Juba , Elite High School - Juba, Promised Land Secondary School, Darling Wisdom Academy: Nursery,Primary and Secondary school ( Pentagon & Glasgow Campus), Salaam Secondary School , Amonto Girls Academy Secondary School , King's Secondary School , plus high school leavers/graduates. To ensure the sustainability and continued impact of this program, Edupower Youth Foundation will establish entrepreneurship clubs in these schools. These clubs will provide ongoing training in entrepreneurial leadership, equipping young people with the skills to start student enterprises and community initiatives that address local problems. We will train participating students to be trainers, who will then educate their peers, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and community problem-solving. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who made this program possible. A special thank you to the schools, participants, and facilitators for their dedication and enthusiasm. We are deeply grateful to the African Leadership Academy for their partnership and support. Finally, a huge thank you to our Edupower organizing team for their tireless efforts in bringing this vision to life. We are excited about the future and committed to continuing our efforts to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs in South Sudan. Together, we can create lasting change and drive innovation in our communities.
